Solid Sawn

Vintage Solid Sawn flooring is a new type of engineered floor. This advanced technology offers the highest dimensional stability. There is much less chance of board distortion or separation caused by temperature and humidity fluctuations. The wear layer is thicker than that on a “traditional” engineered floor, allowing for more frequent floor refinishing.

This thicker wear layer is glued to a solid lumber core in the same wood species, or a species that has the same properties as the wear layer. It is placed perpendicular to the top layer and the solid bottom layer, (again made of the same or similar wood), and is placed perpendicular to the middle layer.

Solid sawn products can be used above or below grade and can be nailed/glued/floated. They can also be installed over radiant heat, making this a truly versatile product.

Solid Sawn from Vintage comes in 5″, 7″ and 12″ wide planking— smooth or hand-scraped—as well as a variety of 3¼” Exotic and Domestic Flooring. Note that this flooring is thicker than standard Engineered flooring at 3/4″ versus 1/2″, 3/8″ or 5/8″. Photo by Sebastian Unrau on Unsplash
